The precision you get from keyboard+mouse is HUGE part of what makes PC gaming desirable over console gaming. You get people to switch to something - anything - by showing them the positive things about it that would make them want to switch. If anything it would probably turn most console players off from Quake entirely because they've been given a speedboat and told to control it with an oar. The inherent problem is that a controller is barely any more appropriate for controlling a Quake game than a DDR mat or a joystick, should the game support those too to get DDR players to switch to PC and flight sim players to switch to FPS? I know that's an unfair comparison in some ways but, honestly, playing Quake with a controller against a bunch of keyboard+mouse players would be such a poor playing experience and such a handicap that I don't think it would actually convince anyone to switch. Sure, they could throw it in I guess, why not? It doesn't hurt anyone. Honestly, whether the game has controller support or not is pretty much irrelevant. Resources and LinksĪlright I actually do totally get where you're coming from here but I think it'll take a bit of explaining to properly get across the issue I have with this and I don't want to just give a joke answer because I'm sure you'll get plenty of those anyway, so bear with me please, this will probably be a bit long-winded.
